Ireport is easily accesible on IOS and Android devices for civilian users. All incoming reports and data will be managed through our robust civilian management system. An Ireport portal will be embedded into department website's allowing public access. Users will recieve immediate access to their case number, as well as receive an email/notification that their report has been submitted. Patrol units can read self reports as time allows, commit to a disposition, and pass the self report onto a detective. Further follow up taken can be added in a narrative through the report management portal, which houses all of the subjects information.
Another benefit for giving the community an opportunity to report their own crimes, is that more crimes will be reported. This will allow a more thorough understanding of what crimes are taking place across the city and will help provide information to the officers in the area as to what neighborhood will require a higher police presence. Data based policing is the goal for most departments even though they don’t have the tools necessary to execute at a high level. Having a higher, more accurate count of the crimes in an area will allow police departments to report higher numbers in terms of reported crimes. This will allow the city government to make more accurate decisions on how to allocate funds to the police department.
